Frito-Lay 7/01-11/01 Excel/ Access VBA Programmer Wrote Excel VBA add-ins that automated the process of extracting raw data from web page reports by re-writing the underlying HTML code and then opening the web page in Excel. The resulting data tables were then enhanced with further calculations using advanced worksheet functions and uploaded in Access. Designed an Access database that categorized the data for maximum efficiency, including designing tables with primary keys and indexes, setting relationships between the tables and writing stored queries. Reports were extracted from Access with SQL statements that were written based on criteria entered by users on Visual Basic forms. Excel charts and pivot tables were automatically generated from those reports. Designed a spreadsheet application that minimized the difference between daily product shipping and plant manufacturing, based on constraints specified by the user. Avaya Communication 1/01-6/01 Customized code was added to a Visual Basic ActiveX EXE in order to present call center representatives with information entered by customers who make incoming calls. Account information was retrieved from SQL Server 2000, Oracle, Lotus Approach, and Access 2000 databases using ADO and stored procedures written in Transact-SQL and PL/SQL. Interaction between multiple applications was implemented with COM or Dynamic Data Exchange. Nortel Networks 11/99-11/00 Microsoft Office VBA Programmer Developed an Access database used to generate reports for market growth forecast analyses. Raw data in Excel spreadsheets was re-formatted, normalized, and uploaded into a master Access database. Wrote ad hoc Access queries and reports for managers and senior engineers. Automated the generation of Excel pivot tables, graphs, and charts based on user-specified criteria. Wrote a text parser, using automation between Word and Excel, where XML markup was added to make the data easier to organize and tabulate. The resulting XML document was then downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet for generation of pivot tables and graphs. Motel 6 6/99-11/99 Visual Basic Programmer Upgraded Procurement and Revenue Analysis applications from 16-bit Visual Basic 4.0 to Visual Basic 5.0. I replaced DAO with ADO 2.1 in applications that used Access and SQL Server databases. I used ODBC to configure Access and Sybase SQL Server data sources used to establish ADO connections. SQL Server stored procedures and views were added in order to optimize ADO’s effectiveness. Access SQL queries written to reflect changes in business rules and categorization. Crystal Reports were re-designed to accommodate changes in report categories and database configuration. I also substituted 16-bit ActiveX controls with 32-bit equivalents and rewrote the accompanying code components. Peterbilt Motors 12/98 – 5/99 Excel VBA Programmer Used Visual Basic for Applications to automate Excel spreadsheets used for financial analysis and reporting. Files were downloaded from UNIX and manipulated to make them easier to analyze. VBA functions were used to insert columns and rows, create new files, and collect new user input. Consulted with accountants on what they wanted the functions to do and presented several options on how to achieve the desired result. Trained them on how to use the new automated package and use features available in Excel 97. Use Excel 97 and Access 97 in Windows NT 4.0 The R&B Group 08/94 – 11/98 Visual Basic Programmer Developed Visual Basic forms to collect user input for order processing and report generation. Wrote code behind forms to collect and validate input at field- and form-level. Enabled and disabled controls depending on user input. Created standard, cross-tab, and summary reports. Created user interface for selecting and modifying reports. Added formulas and formatting. Used DAO to manipulate and navigate databases. Wrote user- and system- invoked procedures to add, update, and delete data. Maintained code by trapping errors and writing error-handling procedures. Used SQL to write stored queries and QueryDefs. Used Excel 97, Access 97, Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus Approach, and Visual Basic 5.0 and Visual Basic 6.0
